“AN OASIS IN THE OUTBACK, & THE GATEWAY TO COBBOLD GORGE”
The Goldfields Hotel is the centrepiece of Forsayth, a small town with about 75 permanent residents located in the central base of Cape York Queensland and 415 km west of Cairns. It is surrounded by mountainous terrain consisting of granite and mineralised sedimentary rock and a good spot to base yourself if visiting Cobbold Gorge.
Attached to the hotel is the General Store, Post Office, and Finnigans Rest with some thirty air-conditioned rooms with en-suite which are comfortable and clean.
The hotel has a bar and a restaurant that serves cold beer, a limited wine selection and basic pub style food. This is pioneering country and you are long way from anywhere and this pub provides friendly service and the basics in accommodation and food.

Forsayth is 40km south of Georgetown and 70km west of Einasleigh. To get there you can drive or book a ticket on the famous Savannahlander train.
From Forsayth to Cobbold Gorge is a 43km drive on formed gravel road (unsealed). If you do not want to drive on unsealed roads, you can catch a Cobbold Gorge Day Tour from Forsayth.
