ST ANDREWS HOTEL, Fitzroy

VictoriaPub Vibe

“A little bit of class in a historic pub”

The St Andrews is not your average historic pub and the moment you walk in you will see the classy stylish period décor and the warmth and quality it exudes. It does not end there with top class and friendly service and food that is definitely a serious jump above of your typical pub grub. You can of course get your standard pub fare of chicken parmigiana and beer battered fish and chips but they are done well but the menu extends beyond the average.

Yellow Fin Tuna Sashimi w/sesami, earl gray, pickled beetroot
Porterhouse Steak

They also do a few good cocktails and have an extensive range of beers and some nice wines by the glass, again done better than your average pub.

Built in 1854 as the Hawkins St Andrews Hotel, it was rebuilt after a fire. In 1926 it was rebuilt again for the Abbottsford Brewery in Greek Revival style and in 1987 renamed as the Pumphouse Hotel. In 2017 it was renamed the St Andrews and extensively renovated.

If you are looking for a pub lunch with a little class and difference, take Tram 96 up Nicholson Street and exit at the Melbourne Museum. The St Andrews is opposite. You will not be disappointed.
